Cape York Telegraph Line

I found this original insulator whilst scuba diving at the telegraph crossing. When I later found many original Oppenheimer telegraph poles at the refuse dump I kept a couple rather than let such vital links to the history of the area suffer such an indignant fate after some disregarding bureaucrat ordered for the historical telegraph poles to be removed. Now, tourists driving the telegraph track have no telegraph history to look at & photograph.
