LADY DOUGLAS
The 594 ton barque struck Michigan Rocks at the eastern approach to P.O.W. Channel on 4th May 1889. Captain Knight realised his ship was beyond help & ran her up against the fringing reef of Wednesday Island. The ship was a total loss but no passengers or crew were lost.
It is quite possible that this was the same Captain Knight who was lost with all on board the YONGALA 20 years later near Townsville.
